The capital and largest city of the prefecture is Larissa, which is the administrative and economic centre of the region. Start your walk in the city from the Fortress Hill, where the Ancient Theatre of Larissa is located, and walk along the banks of the Pinios River to reach the Alcazar Park, the main green lung of the city. After seeing the rest of Larissa's sights and museums, the pedestrianised city centre with its many restaurants, taverns, cafes and bars is an excellent choice for food, coffee or drinks.
